The Heat Is On

Before Elijah could stand on Mount Carmel and call down fire, God first led him through Cherith and Zarephath.

Cherith was the place where Elijah learned to depend on God. Zarephath was the place where his faith was tested, stretched, and refined. There, he moved from receiving God’s provision for himself to releasing God’s power for someone else.

In this message, Glenn Bleakney explores how God uses seasons of pressure, delay, discomfort, and impossibility to prepare His people for greater works. The flour and oil revealed God’s sustaining power, but the raising of the widow’s son revealed the God who gives life to the dead.

God is not refining His people to destroy them, but to prepare them. Before we are used greatly, we must often be tested deeply. This is a call to move beyond comfort, contend for the promises of God, and become a people through whom He can awaken families, cities, and nations.
